A big game is going to take place in Velodrome, but with no great trophy apart from the glory, since both squads know their place. Chelsea will be first and Marseille second.
Marseille - Chelsea
Having secured their place in the top 16, the French champions host Chelsea for no other reason than the glory of such a win, if it ever comes. On Sunday, Deschampes squad lost for the first time after a long long time. Nice was the culprit with a goal scored in 92' and after their keeper had made plenty of excellent saves. It is not out of the question for Deschamps to make some changes in the squad, since the games against Auxerre and Lyon follow. M'bia is out, Azpilicueta and Gignac has very few posibilities to play as well.
Chelsea have not been doing their best lately. After their 1-1 against Everton, they have now reached 4 matches without win in the Premier League and fell to 3rd place. This had as a result the voices to start echoing as far as Anchelotti's position is concerned. Two weeks ago they played horibly against Zilina whom they beat 2-1 after turning around the score. Since his team is definitely first, Anchelotti is expected to offer rest to some of his players , since there is the big match on Sunday against Tottenham. Alex, Benayun, Zirkov, Lampard are out while Terry although healed might remain out for security purposes. Cole is also doubtful. There is a special flair to this match for Drogba since he will be facing the team that promoted him to the world as player.
Probable line-ups:
Marseille: Mandanda; Kabore, Diawara, Heinze, Taiwo; Lucho Gonzalez, N’Diaye, Jordan Ayew; Valbuena, Brandao, Remy.
Chelsea : Turnbull; Ferreria, Ivanovic, Bruma, Van Aaholt; Ramires, McEachran, Malouda; Kakuta, Drogba, Sturridge.
