Greetings BETHOME punters! The other clash in Group G sees Brazil take on Portugal, whereby many are expecting a draw…
Portugal - Brazil.
Carlos Quieroz’s side did their duty against North Korea and managed to win by a big margin and it would take a miracle for them to miss out on the final 16 stages. In order to be knocked out Portugal have to lose today and the Ivory Coast to make up a 9 goals difference, which Portugal have in their favour at the moment. However, a win today for the Portuguese would hand them top spot in the group but whether this is in fact advantageous is unknown given Spain may finish second in their respective group. Deco is doubtful and likely to miss, which is the only absentee concern for the head coach.
Probable Line-up: Eduardo, Miguel, Bruno Alves, Carvalho, Coentrao, Mendes, Meireles, Tiago, Ronaldo, Simao, Almeida.
On the other hand, Carlos Dunga’s side have secured their passage into the round of 16 and if they avoid defeat today they will finish in top spot hoping to avoid a tough opponent, while they also want to win because their fans are demanding and they are expected to beat anybody they play. Kaka was sent off in the previous game and misses today. Robinho is likely to play in his position which means Nilmar and Baptista are vying for a spot in attack. There are also doubts over Elano’s fitness and whether he has overcome his injury knock.
Probable Line-up: Cesar, Maicon, Lucio, Juan, Bastos, Melo, Gilberto, Dani Alves, Baptista, Robinho, Fabiano.
Selection: Portugal are pretty much certain of going through so they head into this game hoping to win it and top the group. This should make the Brazilians more determined and I think they will win. Nevertheless, plenty shots are going to be taken, so i will go with the OVER 10 CORNER KICKS.
