Greetings bethome.gr punters! The second game of each group got underway last night and to a great degree the results of these matches will have a huge bearing on which nations reach the knock-out stages. Today we have two matches in Group B and below we take a close look at the clash between Argentina and South Korea.
Argentina – South Korea
* Soccer City, Johannesburg.
Argentina have 6 players in their squad that have scored 170 goals between them for their respective clubs this season. However, they could only muster a 1-0 victory over Nigeria thanks to a goal from defender Heinze. South Korea had an easy time of it against Greece (2-0) and a loss today doesn’t mean their tournament would be over. They still have to play Nigeria in the final group game and could possibly still go through with a draw in that game.
Maradona is preparing to make one change to the side that played their opening game. Juan Sebastian Veron is injured and will make way for Maxi Rodriguez. The head coach made it clear he would be sticking with Jonas Gutierrez at right back despite the fact that the Newcastle midfielder didn’t perform that well against Nigeria.
Huh Jung-moo became the first Korean coach of his nation to register a win at the World Cup. Today he will be vying for their first victory against a South American nation at the World Cup. He is not expected to make any changes to the starting eleven that comprehensively defeated Greece. But there is likely to be a change in formation as he reverts to 4-2-3-1 in order to counter the threat of Messi.
Probable Line-ups:
Argentina: Romero - Jonas Gutierrez, Demichelis, Samuel, Heinze - Marcherano, Maxi Rodriguez, Di Maria – Messi, Tevez, Higuain
South Korea: Jung Sung-ryong - Cha Du-Ri, Lee Jung-Soo, Cho Yong-Hyung, Lee Young-Pyo - Kim Jung-Woo, Ki Sung-Yong– Lee Chung-yong, Park Ji-Sung, Yeom Ki-Hun- Park Chu-young
SELECTION: Argentina should be able to grind out a hard fought or easy victory here and odds in the order of up to 1.50 can be found. Argentina to win.
