The Jupiler League heads towards a close, as we have a few matches to look at today…
Malines – Westerlo
Malines should finish first in the group even if they lose by a goal difference! Such circumstances can also hit you back like a boomerang but I think the home ground advantage will play its role today. Chen and Gorius are available, while Rossini is slowly but surely getting back to full fitness. Westerlo need to win the game by 2 goals or more if they want top spot in the group! They travel to a difficult ground but on a bright note they have proven this season they will fight in all their games no matter what the final result may be. Ruiz and Dekelver are unlikely to be fit in time.
If there is no early goal then I think the game will end in under 2.5 goals.
Cercle Brugge – Lokeren
Theoretically this is a game with not much at stake, however if Cercle were to finish in second spot above Westerlo they will be rewarded with 250.000 Euros more, which is enough motivation to take any indifference away. Elsewhere, they are still hoping to clinch the Cup, which will give them a trophy and European qualification. This difficult season comes to an end for Lokeren, who at least end the year on a high note with some positive results in the group phase having remained undefeated on home soil (1-2-2). At least they survived but it’s not a positive point that they had to fight for this against Roeselare!

Sint Truiden – Zulte Waregem
Yesterday’s loss by Club and the possibility of Gent losing tomorrow have opened the door for Sint Truiden to move into third place should they win today! Theoretically it should be an easy game as Zulte haven’t been convincing in the play-offs and particularly away from home. Schouterden is doubtful. The visitors only maintain mathematical hopes of qualifying for Europe but in reality they do not really have anything left to play for this season. They have plenty of problems at the back and will struggle to hold off their opponents today who want the 3 points for better reasons. Matton and Lyng are doubtful, while d'Haene is ruled out.
